What To Wear (or not to wear) To A Wedding
Of Course if you are the bride, groom or anyone in the bridal party, you have already chosen what you are going to wear to your wedding. Now what is left for the rest of us is what we are going to wear to your wedding. One rule of thumb that everyone should know when asked to be a guest at a wedding and that is Never wear White, the only people wearing white should be the bride, groom and or the wedding party.
Now in the event that the wedding is going to be a garden wedding then here are some other rules of what to wear and what no to wear at a wedding.
- Never wear high heels to a garden wedding and avoid wearing any type of sunbonnet it can block other guests view of the bride.
- Never wear a headpiece or hat that is larger than what the bride is wearing. Stay away from wide brimmed hats.
If you are attending a Beach Wedding, there are some don'ts along the way.
- Stay away from short dressed and stiletto heels, it is never a good idea to look better than the bride
- Never show a lot of cleavage at a wedding, stay away from halter dresses and bikini tops
Destination Weddings are becoming more popular so if you are a lucky few who have been invited then here are some things not to wear.
- If the location is tropical then it is best to avoid a tropical themed outfit. It is said to be in very bad taste to wear tropical style clothes, it is compared to being a mockery of the location.
- Try to wear neutral colors, nothing too bold that will stand out and avoid wearing colorful prints and graphics; you never want to outshine the bride.
The Black Tie/Formal Wedding, these are the most common. There are some don't here as well.
- Never wear white as we stated in the garden wedding, this applies to all weddings.
- Simple and elegant is key, choose basic colors with sleek but simple style.
- Do not wear lace on your dress, lace is supposed to be reserved for the bride.
For a beautiful Church Wedding, this is where you have to be more conservative:
- Though it is a church wedding, it is ok to have fun with your outfit, you can be sleek and a bit sexy without going overboard. Since it is a wedding, you should leave the sparkle and glitter at home. Never wear an outfit that is going to outshine the bride.
No matter what outfit you wear, be sure to wear something comfortable, wear shoes that have an average size heel and wear clothes that are not too tight and not too lose. It is a wedding and weddings are meant for the guests to have fun, so make sure your outfit is perfect for dancing the night away.
